Ending

So my journey is coming to an end. I’m sad. I really am. This place has become my home now. I guess that shows how easily I move around I guess…anyways. This will be my last post most likely until I get back. So thanks to everyone who has read this. There were a lot more then I thought there would be. It means so much to me. I don’t think you have any idea.

My English has become so bad while I’ve been here. It’s odd. I’d hate to see how it would be if I was here for a year. It’d be really bad I suspect. Oh well. I’ve had a wonderful time teaching all the people new words and they have felt likewise I’m sure.

Yesterday was a wonderful day. It was sort of my lonely walk around my city just to see what I wanted to see. I’m gonna miss all the stores with manga and crazy drinks like “infused cell menbrames” yes, it was spelled like that. I will also miss my kit kats…they were so yummy and so nicely wrapped.

This weekend I went camping. I saw a crazy beach that was full of poisonous things. I swam there. It was just amazing. I have pictures of all of it there. I bought new books for people. I bought gifts. I bought…lots of things to remember this place. Gosh, I’m going to miss it. I…done I can’t type anymore. I’m crying.

Nice People

Im at the Uni again. Im going camping tonight so I thought I should say this now before I forgot what I was going to type.

I came here and they gave me gifts! Im so shocked! They gave me some really nice things too…I cant even believe it. They gave me this really nice shirt that looks quite expensive. It has mangos on it and is a button up shirt. Its really nice and light. They gave me a backpack with “Okinawa International University” on it written in Japanese. Its really nice as well. Finally they gave me back my glass thing I did. I so excited. I cant believe how nice these people are to me. Im so coming back. I think my parents should take a trip *wink*

Final Day of School

As the title says, today is the final day for me in school. It’s kind of sad in a way. This means I have one week left here…gosh time does fly. I’m excited to go home but sad to leave here. I don’t really miss much with Albuquerque but I do miss family and friends. Maybe I can just move you all out here. You’d like it even though the humidity might kill most of you.

I’ll post some pictures later of this wondrous day.

A blog away from Home

Sorry it’s been awhile.

As I travel the world I find that the cultures are different but the people are always people. As I look around my class in Japan, I see the Japanese people. I see Okinawa’s people. I also see something else. I see teenagers being teens. It’s quite fun to see. It gives me a strange assurance, really. I’m not afraid of the world due to this. I’m not afraid of terrorist or things like that. I see all the world’s the same. I bet all over the world that all the teens want to be ‘cool’ or ‘hip.’ I see that here for sure. It’s all about who is dating who or who likes who. I’ve personally been asked many times if I have a girl friend. For the record, no I don’t. Also, everyone seems concerned not with the world as it is. They are Japanese. Okinawan to be exact.

It’s lunch time now. Let me go eat. I have much to say on this subject after my lovely meal. It’s a lot different then my home. Culture thing I guess.

Lunch is fantastic here. The food is amazing. You have a bento box. Think pre-made meal that you’re mother makes ^_^ Lunch today was rice, fried pork, meat ball things, and some spinach. Oh and don’t forget the chopsticks. I haven’t used a fork or knife in about a month. The food here is usually low on fat. That’s very nice. Even so, the carbs are quite high in the average meal. Oh well. Rice is fantastic. This isn’t what I wanted to talk about though. (Hmmm…all the girls just left from the class. I think I missed something.)

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this or not, but it does require repeating. Lunch is quite odd…socially.

The boys and girls tend to eat lunch…serperate. I find it kind of funny in a way. When The bell rings, the boys leave with smoke trails behind them like the road runner. All the girls tend to eat in there class room with all of their friends. I don’t know. It’s odd for me being that most of my good friends and my best friend are girls. I thought that was just quite odd.

What’s That!

This is a comic from my favorite video site ever Rooster Teeth Productions. So please visit them. Warning: They do cuss and make rude jokes.

I couldn’t stop laughing with this because we all know people like this. Enjoy.

I in no way made this. Please take it with humor.

In School

So I’m at my High School not my Uni right now. I am very bored just because I cant access my email or anything like that. Yes, I can access my website but the schools fire walls wont let me access anything else really that isnt pertaining to school…how sad. Oh well I tried a couple of work arounds but none worked. At least I tried.

So you may be asking, “Why is he on a computer in school?” To answer this let me say Im not really a student here. They are having a class meeting. I am not part of the class…therefore no meeting for me! So Im on the computers. They have roughly 40 computers in this school. Yeah…Japan is not known for its high computer use among normal people. Most people can barely fix a problem if they are lucky. Im not being mean, this is very true. They admit it. Most people just use there cell phones. Oh well. Anyways, my weekend.

So I was at a party everynight this weekend. It was just crazy. Not a crazy party. It was just crazy tiring. On Friday was the Typhoon. On Saturday I sang karaoke…look below this post for the video. On Sunday we had dinner at a friends house…I ended up cooking a lot of the food oddly enough. It was a BBQ Okinawan style! So good. Then last night (yes, Monday) We were going to have a beach party but there was rain! I was so looking forward to it too…I had my bathing suit. But then again I did buy gifts and some stuff I wanted. I bought a new wallet that actually holds coins…its a really nice wallet. I also bought this little pouch to hold stuff. It hangs from my belt. I enjoy it very much. Now I can carry a pocket dictionary with out having to bulge my pockets. Sorry, got of track. Instead of going to the beach we went to some dorms at the Uni and made food. It was a fun time. Im very tired though.

Well Im done for now.

Karaoke Vid

Get the Flash Player to see this player.

Just to appease people, here is a video of me singing karaoke…I warn you I haven’t watched it except for a couple moments…so I can’t be responsible for myself.

Typhoon

So I was in one of my first typhoon on Friday. Oddly enough that was Friday the 13th for me…hmmm…wasn’t too bad for me though. I just chilled in my house all day and let the wind and rain do it’s stuff. Lots of trees broke. Lots of power lines went down. I personally go to see a power line break and burst in to flames and sparks. It was loud and looked really cool. I’m glad I was indoors. This morning (well yesterday as it is actually Sunday now by 17 mins) we picked up all the branches and stuff that had gotten blown off trees. We had to cut one down as well. It was quite intense. Then I went over to the OIU (Okinawa International University) to go see the exchange students. On the way there we passed by this power line strip and there were about 10 trucks putting up new ones and fixing the lines. It even knocked down a couple fences due to them falling. Not weak fences either. Oh well. I don’t have any pictures by the way of the typhoon just because I wouldn’t have been able to get good pictures. The windows at my house aren’t good for typhoon viewing.

That’s all for now. I’m doing well. I’ll also put up a video soon of me singing karaoke. How fun that will be to see! For the record, I was singing “Welcome to Paradise” by Green Day.

Glass!

So this morning I woke up at 7 like usual to get ready for school. I got on my uniform and such then walked out for breakfast to find Yosuke. He told me that I wasn’t going to school today. Instead I was going to a glass factory and then a Castle. I was all like ‘WHOA!’ Well, not really. I went a long with it because it meant that one, i wasn’t going to school and was heading to the University, and two, I was going to go to these places! All I can say is, wow. They were a blast. So at around 9:30 AM Yosuke and I headed to Okinawa International University so I could wait for the bus to leave to these places. The nice thing was I got to talk to Chrissy for about 1 and half hours. Then I left right after that! I sat with my good buddies from Australia, Nathan and Dalin. Nice blokes. We were driven first into the heart of Naha, Okinawa. This was quite fun because it was much more like mainland Japan then the rest of the island. Still, every thing was made of concreit. Oh well. We went to this glass factory and I thought it was going to be only a tour of the place. No, my friends. I actually got to do some glass blowing! It was so much fun but before i describe that, I will talk about what I did while I waited just because I think it’s funny.

So I had to wait for my turn because I was literally the last person on the list to go. So me and my Aussie pals went to the touristy flea-market next to the place. Dalin and I were looking for a watch…did we find one? No, we found some that didn’t have batteries though. That wasn’t too helpful. I needed one that worked. Instead we went into a dollar shop. Actually is a 100 yen shop. Those places should be made illegal for how much GOOD stuff they sell for that price…its just insane. I didn’t buy anything though.

So after that we all headed back to the glass place (after stopping at the arcade…) At this place they make you put on a bunch of protective gear so you don’t get burned by the liquid glass. That was very interesting since everything was very sweaty. Doesn’t matter, its only human juice. So from there they get the glass and let you blow it up like a balloon! I wanted mine to go pop but alas it didn’t. From there on, you just sit and they get the glass ready for you to open with the biggest tweezers ever. Over all it was a great experience (yes that’s all.) Sorry but I’m not telling you what I made since it’s a present for someone. I hope you understand…I knew you would.

From there we went to this castle…a Gwen what’s the name of it? I can’t remember and I’m too lazy to get my ticket out…maybe I’ll fix that later…maybe. Anyways, it was a castle. It was used for the King to conduct business and live in. It was very beautiful and very red. The look of it was very Chinese and for good reason. *Fun History Fact* Okinawa was once part of the Chinese empire then was taken over by Japan. So this resulted in a lot of Chinese influence in Okinawa. It really showed in this place. When I put up the pictures you can see this. Not tonight though…sorry. I’m too tired.

Well for now I need sleep. I hope you all are well. Nothing else to report about except that a typhoon is coming. Its supposed to hit on Friday. I’m kinda excited to tell the truth. I’ve never had this before. And don’t worry, this entire island is made for typhoons. Every building is made of solid cement. Anyways, be safe all.

Happy 4th!

Sorry I’m only a couple days late. Just pretend that I noticed it was the fourth of July…I did remember it was Nikki’s birthday! I was so proud of myself. I even tried to call and talk to her which is an amazing feat for me. Go me.

Anyways, I was out of town all weekend…well out of Uruma City. I was…to be honest with you, i have no idea where I was. I was just in this very awesome house type dilly that the International University of Okinawa owns. It was in the middle of this mountain (read hilly area) right next to the Ocean. It was very beautiful…pictures will be up soon. I have others up if you missed that update. So you might have a lot to look at if you really really care. Anyways, I went Kayaking (and yes it’s capitalized b/c I’m cool like that.) It was very fun but kinda boring at the same time just b/c it was only on openish ocean. No giant waves either…oh well. The nice part though was everything was paid for for me! I tried to pay but Iguchi-san wouldn’t let me…he’s very nice to me. Oh I should explain! This week I was hanging out with these International Exchange Tour people. They are part of this program that is part of the University. There are three groups of them. There are Koreans, Taiwanese, and Australians. All of them are so nice to me and help me out a lot. Iguchi-san is in charge of all these people. He is also the head of the International Exchange office at the University if I’m not mistaken. He lets me go on all the trips and feeds me for free. Then again, I do work a lot for him. I set up stuff and go buy food for the parties. So I guess it’s not free but it’s a very good deal…sorry for the rant. The point is, I’ve had loads of fun this week! Woooooooooh! So pictures up after I finish typing this.

Any questions? Comments? Plans for world domination?
